Introducing Tom’s Novel in Progress
"Margin Of Error"
There is a phrase commonly used in medicine called “Margin of Error.” It refers to how accurate a medical test is when helping a doctor make a medical diagnosis. The lower the ‘margin of error’, the more accurate the test. And…the more accurate the test, the more it can be trusted when helping make a proper medical decision.
Most medical tests have a very low ‘margin of error’ – somewhere between 1 – 2%. That’s good and means there is a favorable chance (about 98 – 99%) the results of a test can be considered true and accurate for rendering good medical care.
As a physician, I’ve always been fascinated by the term ‘margin of error’ and have often wondered what would happen if a particular blood or laboratory test that normally has a very low margin of error was suddenly and unexpectedly misinterpreted and what type of medical holocaust would be the result if that happened.
I always thought that was a good scenario for a medical suspense novel, and now I’m pleased to announce that I am writing this story. I’m calling the book “Margin of Error” and I will be sharing excerpts from it in this blog. The book is not out for publication yet (I’ll let you know when it is) but I think you’ll enjoy samples as I present them in this blog.
